Bubbler, Water Pipe or Bong?

I am sure you have heard these words interchangeably throughout the smoke world, but what is what?

A Bong has the oldest patent and is simply a straight tube inhalation chamber.  Sure, more expensive options can be added, but that is what it is.  A straight tube.  There is typically a glass bowl and a downstem leading to the water.  You light your weed and inhale through the top.  It's that simple.  Bongs can be made of things like glass or silicone.

A Bubbler is just a smaller version of the bong.  It typically measures between 2 and 6 inches long.  The small version is great for portability but lacks when it comes to the ability to cool your smoke.  You will typically find many bubblers made of lesser quality materials, such as acrylic.  They are the cheapest water filtration available for your smoke, but I strongly recommend going a different route.

Water Pipes are a great option because they typically have options like smoke diffusers and percolators built into the unit.  They do not have the straight glass tube design, instead have a bent inhalation chamber which makes the inhalation process easier.
